Solstice Heuldro’r Haf

Mae’n briodol iawn fy mod yn dechrau cyfnod o waith yn y Gogledd ar ddiwrnod heuldro’r haf. Mae pethau arwyddocaol yn digwydd ar ddiwrnodau arwyddocaol.

Mi roedd heddi’n gyfle i gynnau tân i groesawu’r diwrnod newydd. Na, nes i ddim codi am 5 o’r gloch, ond mi fues ar ddihun tan 1 o’r gloch y bore! Mae rhywbeth hynod o gyntefig a hynod o blerserus mewn cynnau tân. Rhowch i mi goed i’w dorri, a thân i’w gynnu, ac mae popeth yn y byd yn syrthio i’w le.

Wrth i’r haul fachlud heno, mi fyddai’n edrych ar yr olygfa sy’n newydd i fi. Yr olygfa ar draws y Fenai fydd yn gartre am 3 mis a hanner.

It’s somehow very fitting that I travel to start a new job in N Wales on the summer solstice. Significant events happen on significant days.

Today was an opportunity to light a fire to greet the longest day. No, I didn’t get up at 5 o’clock, but I followed Mr Tic Toc instead of Mr Rays and had an outside fire burning until 1 o’clock this morning. Isn’t that primitive man at his very best? Give me some wood to chop and a fire and everything else pales palpably into insignificance.

Tonight, as the sun sets, I’ll be contemplating the new view from the window of the flat that will be my home for the next 3 and a half months. The Menai Straits is a fitting view to celebrate a significant day.
